Marie writes: I too own a money pit of a Mercedes Benz. The car has been in for work and service more that 16 times in the last 11 months. I have always had the car serviced my Fletcher Jones. I drive a rental car more that mine that costs me more than $800 a month. I am trying to do something to recify tis situation, but am unsure about who or what to persue. Any thought or advise would be appreciated. Sorry for all of your trouble as well. I will NEVER EVER NEVER BUY, OWN, LEASE, OR DRVIE another Mercedes again. It has been the worst and most costly mistake of my life!!!! Join the Exclusive Mercedes Benz Owners Community. Share your story and interact with other owners. Paying for a loaner car (insurance) also adds up while making payments for a car in the shop. I am sick and tired of all the problems. I love the G500 but I am getting to hate it because of all the problems. Chris g writes: Hi - I purchased an 07 G55 in March. Since then, the front left bushing broke; one of the fuse boxes shorted, preventing me from being able to turn the car off!! Once while driving, the car shut down for no reason. On three separate occasions, the ESP shut off while driving, and twice the ABS shut off while driving. Most recently, while driving on the freeway, the front transfer case exploded!!!! SO now I've begun the repurchase process. Unbelievable for a $130,000 car! I'll still get another one, obviously mine was defective. Love the G Jason writes: We have an 04 G500 that has had the transfer Case go out on it 3 times. All three times the truck has left us stranded. The transfer case has also been stuck in a single gear and would not change. The dealership has had to reprogram the computer just so we can drive the truck. We have contacted MB about a repurchase. We are still waiting for them to get back to us, it has been 2 weeks so far. We love the style of the G500 just not the reliability of it. Moon Glade writes: I purchased my 2000 ML 430 brand new. Also, I purchased G-500. G-500 was so bad, I took it back. Since, then I have repaired just about every part of my ML 430. The car is not well made. This car can not stand up to Luxus. I believe, Luxus 470 SUV or even BMW SUV is much better car. I would not purchase another MB. And I do not recommend MB to anyone. Go Toyota or Honda made vehicles. Melissa writes: I have owned two Mercedes G500's over the past 2 years. The first one was taken back because I had a flat tire and MB roadside assistance came to fix the flat and when the service tech put the tire back on he forgot to tighten the lug nuts and the tire almost fell off the car while I was driving 75mph. I was stranded an hour away from my home and an hour from where I was going waiting for another MB Road side assistance tech to come check out the problem. As it turned out I only had 2 remaining lug nuts on the car and they were about to fall off too. He moved some lug nuts from other wheels and I was on my way. I took it to the dealership, they replaced the lug nuts and checked the car out and sent me on my way. The next day the car began to shake, so I took it back to the dealer and apparently the rear axle (where the flat tire was) was cracked or bent - I never actually got a straight answer out of the dealer but they told me that it would take roughly 7-8 weeks to repair. I told them the car was unsafe to drive and the repair time was ridiculous. I told them i was considering calling an attorney and they quickly gave me the option of trading in my 1 year old G500 for a new G500 for the same price. I figured I just had a bad experience and signed the lease for the second G500 (which they neglected to tell me was a lease for an additional 3 years in order to keep my payments the same). I got the new car on 2/28/08. Since then the car has been in the shop for 49 days due to flooding on the driver's side (front and back). I picked it up for the second time this past Saturday and today the car is flooded again. If you are having trouble with your G500 don't assume it's just a one time thing with that particular truck! Spencer S Leavitt writes: I own a 2007 GS320that I love but made the mistake of putting gas in it.Called Carlton Motor Cars and had it towed there. They informed me it would take a day to fix.I called them the next day and they said it would be ready in the afternoon.Called them back in P.M. and they said they had broken a part while trying to fix the car. They further explained that it was Mercedes fault because it was(the part they broke)put on too tight.I asked for a loaner which they refused because I didn't buy the car from them, however I and my family have bought three cars from them.I bought this car from Dyer in Columbia because they had the car I wanted. After a discusion with the service manager they agreed to get a rental car. When I went to pick up the car two days later after being told it was ready,it took an hour for the dealership to process the paperwork. Today while driving to work the add coolant light came on.I stopped to check and found Carlton had not put the engine cover back on and when I returned it was sitting in the shop.Another half an hour I left but was disgusted with Carlton Motor Cars of Greenvlle,S.C. Essa writes: I own a G 5OO 2008 and it was purchase by the end of 08 however before the 09 car was released. First of all the dealership didnt even bother to inform me about the newer model which was alot different. To add to all that crap , when i recieved my brand new car it had all sorts of defects like loud brake sound the left door was not functional, the screen had a line through it, the engine has a very weird noise when u start it and to top all that it also stopped functioning AT ALL when i was driving in the Highway. It is such a ashame that such a prestigious company would give ppl cars that have defects they just want the money and dont care about there customers. But trust me i am not going without a fight ! Car is now out of waranty and 2 windows have recently become inoperable. Also have problems with door locks. They are hydralic and will not function properly. Car has been nice to drive, but problems with electric windows and door locks render this car a lemon. SUSAN PRICE writes: I PURCHASED A 2008 MERCEDES SUV FROM MODERN CLASSIC MOTORS IN HILTON HEAD SC. I HAVE HAD HORRIBLE EXPERIENCES FROM WEEK 1. THE TIRES LOST SIGNIFICANT PRESSURE FROM THE BEGINNING. I HAD TO FILL THEM DAILY. I TOOK THE CAR IN 3 TIMES, ONCE THEY PATCHED THEM THE SECOND TIME THEY DID NOTHING. THE SAID THE PRESSURE WAS FINE BUT THE TIRE WAS OBVIOUSLY VERY LOW. TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE I PURCHASED THE EXTENDED TIRE WARRANTY. I ALSO PURCHASED THE INTERIOR FABRIC PROTECTION WHICH WAS NEVER INSTALLED. I FINALLY WAS FED UP AND SOLD THE CAR AND PURCHASED FROM ANOTHER DEALERSHIP. I HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES TO RECEIVE MY MONEY BACK FROM THE TIRE WARRANTY AND THE FABRIC PROTECTION WHICH WAS NEVER INSTALLED. I CAN GET NO ONE TO CALL ME BACK I HAVE HAD IT WITH THAT PLACE I WILL MAKE SURE EVERYONE I KNOW DOES NOT GO THERE TO PURCHASE A VEHICLE. PLEASE ADVISE WHAT I CAN DO TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM
